Shweta Singh joins as Principal to head Consumer investments
Shweta has recently come on-board to lead our B2C investments. She has several years of India investing experience, having worked with Gurgaon based investment firm, Lumis Partners, and founding an early-stage focussed investment firm, Sol Primero. She has done International Operations for Zomato, in the nascent stages of the company’s foray in to overseas markets and also been an Investment Banker with UBS, London, across Equity Capital Markets and M&A. She holds an MBA in Operations & Entrepreneurial Management from Wharton, a Masters in Economics from University of Cambridge and a Bachelor’s in Mathematics from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi.

SRI Capital invests $1 million in FakeSpot
New York City based, online data authentication company, FakeSpot, is on a mission to make online information trustworthy by applying advanced data analytics and AI to detect fake reviews on Amazon, TripAdvisor, Yelp, and the Apple App Store. With e-commerce projected to comprise 17% of all U.S. retail sales by 2022, a number of sellers have resorted to posting fake and biased reviews to increase their sales. Fakespot’s platform works in real-time to warn consumers on inauthentic trends within reviews. Fakespot has analyzed over 2 billion reviews to date.

Shubh Loans raises  $4.2  million
ShubhLoans has raised $4.2 million in an investment led by venture capital firm Saama Capital, with participation from existing investors SRI Capital, Beenext and Pravega Ventures. The company disbursed $5m in 2017-18 and is targeting to cross $21m in the current financial year. The company lends largely to blue-collar employees with annual incomes of INR 1.5 lakh to INR 4.5 lakh and plans to expand in to the self employed segment soon.
SportsFlashes acquires audio broadcast rights for the English Premier League
SportsFlashes has signed a four year deal with TalkSPORTS to broadcast all 380 matches of the English Premier League (EPL) for Indian fans. The company will dedicate a special radio channel to football, which is the second most consumed sport in India, with 150 million+ fans consuming the EPL alone. SportsFlashes is on a mission to deliver World Class Sports content and Sports Entertainment to fans.
